Langkawi is an archipelago of 99 islands in the Andaman sea and there are 5 more small islands that sometimes be seen during low tide. The islands are a part of the state of kedah, which is adjacent to the Thai border. In June 2007, Langkawi was accorded the world heritage Geopark status by UNESCO because of stunning geological landscapes including caves, stack, sea-arches, limestone rocks, and millions of years old fossil.
